A
self made and self taught artist, Dullah was born in Solo, Indonesia in 1919. Admitting that fellow artists Affandi and S. Sudjojono played a major influence in his art technique, his creations are however very different and divergent to the works of Affandi and S. Sudjojono, thus creating uniquely creative and individualistic works of art.
When Indonesia gained independence from the Dutch in the late 19406s, Dullah became the personal Artist-in-Residence for President Soekarno, the first President of the Republic of Indonesia. He was also appointed the official curator of the states priceless painting collection. Many of Dullahs paintings were bought by tourists and local art collectors and very quickly become famous as one of the most prominent realistic artist & painter in Indonesia at that time.
Dullah passed away in 1996 at his own museum in Solo which he built as a testament to his devotion and dedication to his love for art. It still stands today in Solo as a cultural landmark and is opened to all who love and appreciate art.
